Anna Besson
A recipient of the Cziffra Foundation award and a graduate of the CNSMD in Paris and the HEM in Geneva, Anna Besson is an artist renowned for her mastery of both modern and period flutes and her ability to interpret repertoires—from the late 17th century to contemporary works—in accordance with their respective styles and techniques. Regularly invited to perform at the Paris Opera or in chamber music ensembles, she also pursues a career as a Baroque flutist, appearing as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player with prestigious ensembles such as Le Concert Spirituel, Les Arts florissants, Insula Orchestra, Le Concert d’Astrée, La Chambre Philharmonique, as well as the Nevermind Quartet.
As a founding member of the ensemble a nocte temporis (conducted by Reinoud Van Mechelen), she seeks to transcend the repertoire for tenor and flute from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Her discography as a soloist and chamber musician includes Mozart’s Concertos for Flute and Orchestra, released by Alpha Classics in 2025 (winner of the 2025 Diapason d’Or), a Corelli-Quentin recital released by Alpha Classics in 2024, Telemann’s Parisian Quartets with Nevermind (2017), *Erbarme dich* (2016) and *The Dubhlinn Gardens* (2018) with a nocte temporis, and a recital on the Romantic flute with Olga Pashchenko featuring works by Beethoven, Kuhlau, and Doppler (2020), also on Alpha Classics.
Anna teaches the traverso at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and is regularly invited to give master classes and recitals in France and abroad.
