Makoto Yoshida

Makoto Yoshida began playing piano at age five and clarinet at age fifteen. He started studying conducting under Seiji Ozawa at age 21. He graduated summa cum laude from the Conservatoire à Rueil-Malmaison in France and pursued his education at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris and the Haute école de musique de Genève.
He has received numerous awards, including first prize at the Tokyo Music Competition and the Richard Stoltzman Award from the Sony Music Foundation. As a soloist, he has toured Japan with the Vienna-Toyota Master Players, a group composed of members of the Vienna Philharmonic. As a chamber musician, he has performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including London's Wigmore Hall and Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
His work includes commissioning and premiering contemporary music and collaborating with traditional Japanese instruments. Since 2022, he has been a music producer for a Mii temple with a history of over 1300 years. His debut album, featuring works by Brahms and Schumann, was released worldwide by Sony Music.
