Steve Eto is a Japanese percussionist and performance artist based in Nara, Japan. Using oil drums, scrap metal, and industrial tools as instruments, he creates powerful performances that combine rhythm, movement, sparks, voice, and improvisation. Known for his “HEAVY METAL percussion” style, he works across music, contemporary art, theater, and site-specific performance. Influenced by ritual culture and the natural landscapes of Japan, his work explores the physical and spiritual power of sound.
