Susan Clynes

Susan Clynes is a Belgian-Australian composer, singer, and pianist active in the fields of jazz, contemporary music, theater, and interdisciplinary creation. Trained in composition at the Ghent Conservatory under Frank Nuyts, she has developed a distinctive compositional style that blends improvisation, chamber music, experimental jazz, and song.

Her works have been performed at several leading institutions and venues in Belgium, notably at the Muziekcentrum De Bijloke in Ghent and the Concertgebouw Brugge. She has composed pieces such as *Marine Blossoms*, a viola concerto presented at the En Avant Mars festival, as well as Viriditas, a work for symphony orchestra, carillon, piano, and voice.

In addition to her work as a composer, she writes music for film, theater, and various contemporary creative projects. Her album *Life Is...*, released on the New York-based label MoonJune Records, has received international critical acclaim for the uniqueness of her musical world and the depth of her interpretation. She is also a member of several ensembles on the Belgian experimental jazz scene, including the Ag8tet octet, which brings together renowned musicians from the contemporary scene.
