Isabella Soupart

Belgium
Choreography

Isabella Soupart is a Belgian choreographer, dancer, director, and visual artist of Polish-Ukrainian descent, based in Brussels. Her work lies at the intersection of choreography, theater, film, opera, and the visual arts, within a resolutely transdisciplinary approach. Her works are presented on national and international stages as well as at numerous festivals. She is also invited by museums, where she develops site-specific performance pieces linked to research on movement, space, light, sound, and architecture.

In 2025, she presented a choreographic triptych consisting of *Kaze to Arashi*, *December*, and *Kintsugi*—three solos based on the dialogue between dance and music, created through close collaborations with composers and performers. That same year, the Centrale for Contemporary Art in Brussels invited the duo—visual artist Caroline Le Méhauté and choreographer and visual artist Isabella Soupart—to create a joint work blending visual arts and dance. The result was Tellus Project, an immersive dance-performance installation at the intersection of art and biology (bio-art).

In September 2025, she represented Belgium at the Osaka World Expo with *Kintsugi*, created in collaboration with dancer Elsa Tagawa and drummer and composer Antoine Pierre/VAAGUE.

Her work, which has gained international recognition, has been honored with several awards, including the 2019 SACD Choreography Award in Belgium. That same year, she was nominated for the Total Theater Awards in Edinburgh and the Maeterlinck Critics’ Awards. In 2007, she was selected for the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative in New York, where she was mentored by Julie Taymor.
